A Tale Of Two Martyrs

June 7th, 2011

On the one hand you have Mr. Osama bin Laden.  You probably know the scoop on him.  If you’ve ever read his fatwa then you really the details on his cause.  If you haven’t read it before, you probably should (link).  I should read it again now that he is in fact a martyr for so many.

On the other hand, I’d like for you to consider one Mr. Dave Duerson.  Most likely you don’ t know who he was.  Duerson was a star player of the Chicago Bears for several years, including their 1985 Super Bowl win.  On February 17, 2011 Duerson shot himself to death.

The interesting part is, he did it as a selfless act to try to save lives.

Duerson purposely shot himself in the chest instead of his head because he wanted his brain examined.  He firmly believed that his brain had sustained traumatic injury from all the blows he had taken during his football years.  It turns out that he was correct in that belief (link).  One can only hope that this man’s ultimate sacrifice was not in vein.

There’s No Bias In The Media! -wink wink-

June 5th, 2011

Oh, John Edwards.  Surprise, it all happened to be true!  You’ve even been charged with crimes, how true does that make it?  But wait, it really wasn’t a surprise, was it?

The whole time you built up your run for the presidency the media completely sat on this story that they knew to be true.  And yet, there was a tiny, unproven rumor that McCain had some sort of cozy relationship with a lobbyist.  Somehow this bit of nothing made it out there.  A bit picky-choosy in the media, aren’t we?

Stacking It Up – Update

June 5th, 2011

Well, Mr. Obama, it looks like you’re going to have some real ‘splainin’ to do.  Unemployment did in fact go up, up to 9.1.  Yikes.  Sucks for you.  Maybe.  Not really, I guess.

You know that crunch time draws near.  By the first of the year you want us out of Iraq.  So, if we are, we will be in two wars and this poor economic situation.  Sound familiar?  That means that in three years of your presidency we’ll have gotten nowhere.  You’re proving that you’re no different than your predecessor.  Now, that wasn’t your intent was it?

If you get tossed out, don’t worry about it.  I’ve got a way for you to save face.  In fact, I think that you may not even have to lie if you use this idea.  In your post-loss interviews, just tell America that when you went in you had every intention of changing things but that the “system” was just too strong for you and you succumbed.  Expose it for what it is.  That would be a refreshing change.

Cherub Rock You Rock Me

June 1st, 2011

I can’t help it.  No matter how crappy I may feel, Smashing Pumpkins’ “Cherub Rock” always lifts my spirits.  I don’t even know the words really, it’s just the tune.  Do you have a song that does that for you?  I hope so.  If not, get out there and find one.

Stacking It Up

June 1st, 2011

So, we just had the worst day of the year for stocks (down 280 points).  Home prices have reached their lowest level since that bubble burst.  Unemployment is 8.7 unless it goes up even further in two days.  Gas is still leaning toward $4/gallon.  We’re still fighting three wars.

I hate to say it but it’s not looking too good.

I’d say one big event in the next six months could really bring us down.  They’re saying hurricane season looks to be a pretty active one (although we’ve all heard that before).  It’s the ten year anniversary of 9/11, prime time for terrorism if you ask me.  What else?  Who knows.

As the song goes, “Y’all ready for this?”

It’s Time To Bring Them Home

May 22nd, 2011

OBL is gone.  Let’s get our people out of Afghanistan.  I’m calling the media out on this one.  They need to bring the war’s end to the forefront.

There is no reason for one more American life to be lost in this war.  There is no reason for any more American blood, sweat or tears to be wasted on this war.  There is no reason for any more American money to be spent on this war.

It’s disgusting to me that I have not heard one single peep from anyone in the media as to why OBL’s death does not signify the end of this war.

No more talk on the economy.  No more talk on the 2012 election.  No more talk on Israel.  No more talk on floods.  No more talk on politicians’ and other leaders’ philandering.  No more talk on celebrities behaving badly.  No more celebration of mediocrity.  No more business as usual for the US media.  Not until you’ve done your part on ending this war.

Chump Change

March 31st, 2011

Another bullet point in the list of things that haven’t changed.  Mr. Obama has taken us to war.  Not only that, but it’s our third concurrent war and we’ve entered it for ambiguous reasons.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  I’m not against war.  I wasn’t against Iraq or Afghanistan, it was explained to us why we went in there before we went in there.  But, I really don’t know if I’m for or against this war in Libya, because I don’t know why we’re in it.  Even after a TV appearance with a supposed explanation (more than a week after taking us to war)  I still don’t really know why Libya is so special.

I guess I can understand that we have “interests” that are at risk but what I really don’t understand are our “values” that are supposedly under attack.  So we go to war just anywhere in support of our ambiguous “values” being under attack?  Are our “values” under attack in other countries?  I am going to bet that even in the US there are people attacking our “values” – so do we declare war on our own people?  I want a definition of what these “values” are and I want an explanation of why we went to war in Libya over these “values”  and how they’re under attack.  In my mind I can see the spread of Communism being an attack on our values, and we went to war to stop the spread of Communism; I can understand that.  Is there something in Libya that is against our values that we are afraid will spread?  I want answers to these simple questions.  I don’t want ambiguity, generalizations and filibustering.

We were also told our involvement would be minimal.  Now I am hearing that the CIA may be afoot in Libya.  That doesn’t seem like minimal involvement to me.  Seems like it’s about to get much more involved.  Arms deals?  Regime overthrow?  Funding?  Let’s have some truth.  Let’s have some transparency, Mr. Obama.  After all, you promised us that.  Were all these Americans just chumps for believing in your change?

More Gaseous Expulsion

March 8th, 2011

Seems there is so much to this topic, so I’m blowing some more.

Now there’s supposed talk of tapping the strategic oil reserves.  There was talk of this the last time gas was hovering around $4 per gallon.  Who are the boneheads who even consider this?  Try and keep in mind what this reserve is for you bozos.  And back to all the people complaining about “pain at the pump.”  Take a minute while you’re screwing around on the Internet (i.e. at work) and look up what they pay for gas and other types of energy in other countries.  Might just put things in perspective for you.

The Great Ex-change Rolls On

March 7th, 2011

I’ll bet the sound of the crickets is all we’ll hear.

Mr. Obama just reinstated military commissions for prosecuting Gitmo prisoners.  So much for closing Gitmo.  Man, what’s happened to all those promises?  Sure hope that all those people who believed in all his change will hold him accountable.  How much more non-change or change-for-the-worse will the people ignore or accept?

Gasoholics

March 6th, 2011

Oh, you whiny people.  Here we go again.  All these people complaining about the price of gas.  Funny how so many of the people they interview in the news articles are driving a brand new SUV or full size pickup.  What did you expect, to not pay $80 to fill up your tank at some point?  To not have to fill it up once a week knowing it only gets 12 miles per gallon?  “I can’t afford this gas with cable TV in every room, $80/month smart phones, video games and a  1000 square foot per person house to pay for.”  Give me a break.  Americans have such short memories.  Remember that run on fuel efficient vehicles the last time this happened?  And then as soon as gas prices retreated, dealer lots were loaded up and stuck with those same vehicles as trade-ins!

Finally, why are these gas prices so high with the Obama administration in office?  I thought that high gas prices were the result of republican greed and market control?  Why is the media not harping on this?

Ha ha ha.  You’re busted.  All of you.
