Salt On A Wound

Please see the link below (if the link is broken, do a web search for “Marcus Luttrell dog”).  I heard elsewhere that this dog symbolized to him all the guys in his squad that got killed (as it mentions, he was the lone survivor).  He said that when the dog was killed it was as if all his buddies had been killed again.  He was and is still in a lot of pain from the injuries he sustained (and the associated rehab) and now he has had to go through this.  I heard him talk about this and it took an amazing amount of restraint on his behalf to not kill the human garbage that did this, as obviously he is trained to kill at the drop of a coin.   Can you imagine volunteering to fight for your country, having all your brothers-in-arms killed, nearly getting killed yourself, coming back to this country for rehab, then having your dog (which helped you through rehab and symbolized your fallen brother-in-arms) shot and killed by Americans for absolutely no reason?
