Personal security for those in Congress? I don’t think so, not on our dime. If you want to pay for it personally, carry on. Those in Congress are no different than you or me, or any celebrity. Celebrities pay for their own security. You and I, if we choose it, pay for our own security.
These people really are out of control to even consider putting this on the tax payer. When they assume their position in Congress, they know it comes with certain risks. When they go out in public, they take the same risk we do. Any one of us could be shot dead any given day. Look around – it happens every day. It is the scary, disgusting truth. But we have to accept that it is the truth.
I’ll tell you what, Mr. or Ms. Representative. I’m willing to throw you a bone. How about if we give you an option. If you want personal security, we’ll take $74,000 of your outrageous $174,000 pay and put that toward your security. You cover the remainder of the cost out of your own pocket.
