Poli-seer Prediction For Obama’s BP Press Conference

Let’s see how off I am regarding what PrezBO is going to tell us tonight:

  • He will tell us what he thinks we want to hear.  For example, “bad BP,” “BP, you’re going to pay,” and “I’ve been on top of this.”  All of which is lip service.  He has done well at telling people what he thinks they want to hear.  His actions, however, are a different story of course.
  • He will announce new governmental positions for this and that.  Of course, part of this whole problem was the people in positions (or recently fired) who were responsible for oversight.
  • His main focus will not be the oil spill itself or how it will be fixed.  The focus will be to use this emergency (eh, emergency to some of us, but apparently not him) to further his agendas, energy policy, etc.

Now, don’t get me wrong.  I am all for clean energy.  I wish we used more wind, solar and nuclear.  But I certainly don’t believe that anything other than this spill, its causes and aftermath, and those whose lives have been affected by it should be addressed in this speech.  But I don’t see that being the case.  I am going to predict that a good descriptor for this speech will be “redirection.”
