The Things We Swore We Would Never Do

Everybody’s got them.  You look back and think about the time prior to where you said you would never do something.  But for whatever reason, you did.

My latest would be training for a marathon.  I said that I would never do one, for one or two reasons that no longer matter.  But, the planets have aligned and now I am finishing up with the training.

So as a result, I have found myself running for extended periods of time in sub-freezing temps… with ice and snow on the ground… at night… in fog limiting vision to 10 feet.  I even took a vacation day to get in an 18-mile training run that I couldn’t fit into the weekend.  What the hell?  That’s what this has come to.

In the end, this particular thing that I swore I would never do will provide results.  You can’t always say that about doing things you swore you would never do.  The coin will flip from “suffering” to “accomplishment” in one three-foot stride.
